Don't Turn Northern Carnival Committee Into Political Party Event, Dep. Governor advises

Cross River Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, has admonished Northern Senatorial District Carnival Committee not to turn the event into political party affair.
Odey, who gave the piece of advise when the Carnival Committee led by its chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Ishabor, at his in Calabar on Thursday, commended the committee for their commitment and zeal to deliver.
He, however, urged the committee members to "ensure that the northern carnival does not become a political party event, but open to all northern Cross Riverians."
Earlier in his remarks the Committee chairman and immediate past chairman of Ogoja LGA, Hon. Emmanuel Ishabor, said the northern carnival is an initiative of the Wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Her Excellency, Mrs. Eyoanwan Otu who feels that there should also be a feeling of Christmas in the north during the yelutide season.
Hon. Ishabor expressed hope that the carnival will boost the economy of the north, promote local artists and showcase the rich culture of the people of the north.
According to him, the committee deemed it necessary to interface with the Deputy Governor and seek his guidance, being the number 2 citizen of the state and leader of the north.
The carnival will feature five bands headed by Hon. Peter Odey(Ogoja), Hon. Legor Idagbor (Bekwarra), the immediate past Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade (Obudu), Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo (Obanlikwu), and Sen. Stephen Odey (Yala).
