CRSG To Re-establish Quality Analysis Laboratory To Aid Engineers' Performance - Hon Ankpo

Cross River State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Pius Ankpo has revealed government's plans to re-establish a Quality Analysis Laboratory ravaged by the October, 20th 2020 ENDSARS protest to aid engineering practice in the State.

This was made known during an interview with newsmen in commemoration of the 2023 World Engineering Day with the theme: "Engineering for a Sustainable Future.'

He said the government is doing everything possible to enhance the capacity of engineers in the state knowing their role in the delivery of quality infrastructure.

"You cannot give people support without having laid down programmes to enhance their performance. One of such is the new template of using concrete pavement," this according to him, "will aid Engineers go into more research."

"We are committed to establishing a quality analysis laboratory to enable Engineers in Cross River State run analysis test on material."

He noted that due to lack of laboratory facilities over the years, the quality of job done was not really ascertained, adding that the laboratory is imperative especially with the new technology of concrete pavements.

"This analysis laboratory would aid Engineer to know the quality of materials used in accordance with global best practices."

Hon. Ankpo restated Government commitment to providing a level playing ground for indigenous Engineers in its desire to providing infrastructural development for the State.

He used the medium to salute all Engineers the world over particularly in Cross River State and wished them a favourable celebration.

The World Engineering Days is celebrated on 15th September annually.
