C'River PDP Flags Off Election Campaign In Northern Senatorial District, Says Every Vote Will Count

From Atim MGBE (OGOJA)

CROSS River state People's Democratic Party (PDP) has formally flagged off it's campaign for the 2024 local government election, holding on Saturday across the state.

Flagging off the event at Ogoja for the party's standard bearers from the northern and central senatorial districts, the chairman of the party, Barr. Venatius Ikem, enjoined the candidates to regard the party's mandate as sacrosanct.

He advised against mortgaging the mandate of the party after their election and regretted that some unstable politicians had in the past absconded to other parties after election.

Vena called for total support for the party's candidates in Saturdays local government election adding that  "every vote will count."

He took out time to criticise the policies of the ruling party, which he said have brought pain and anguish on the citizens, calling on the electorate to reject the APC during the Saturday's LG polls because of their anti people's policies.

On his part the member representing Ogoja/Yala federal Constituency, Hon Godwin Ofiono, assured the teeming crowd that modalities would be put in place to guide against electoral malpractice.

The MP observed that the local government election is people's oriented, pointing out that Cross River North and the entire state is a PDP strong hold.

He warned against violence during the election and appealed for a level playing ground.

Flags were presented to the party's candidates from the eleven local government areas of cross River North and central senatorial districts.
