The Cross River State House of Assembly (CRSHA) has lauded Governor Bassey Otu for his bold vision and unwavering commitment to driving infrastructural development across the state. During an oversight visit to inspect major projects executed under the Ministry of Works, members of the Assembly expressed admiration for the governor’s transformative leadership, describing it as a catalyst for progress and prosperity.
Led by Hon. Egbe Abeng Egbe, Chairman of the House Committee on Works, the legislative delegation toured a series of completed and ongoing projects aimed at reshaping the state’s infrastructural landscape. The inspection covered the remodification of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the extensive rehabilitation of road networks, the refurbishment of the historic 13 Brigade Nigerian Army Headquarters, the construction of the Adiabo-Ikoneto Road, the completion of the FRSC Road project, and the revitalization of water supply facilities.
Hon. Egbe praised the governor’s people-centered approach to governance, noting that the projects align with the Assembly’s legislative priorities for development.
“These projects are not just infrastructure—they are lifelines for our people,” Hon. Egbe remarked. “They reflect a leadership committed to creating opportunities, boosting economic activities, and improving the quality of life for Cross Riverians. Governor Otu’s bold development agenda inspires us, and the Assembly is committed to supporting it by passing bills that accelerate progress.”
One of the standout projects inspected was the Adiabo-Ikoneto Road, a critical infrastructure project poised to boost connectivity and commerce in the region. Zenith Construction Ltd., the contractor handling the project, assured that it would be completed by July 2026. Engr. Amine Bechellang, Operations Manager of the company, highlighted proactive measures being taken to sand-fill the site ahead of the rainy season to prevent erosion.
Hon. Cyril Omini, Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Works, described the project as ambitious and emblematic of the state government’s resolve.
“This road is transformative,” Hon. Omini stated. “It’s remarkable that the state government has undertaken this massive project without federal support. It underscores Governor Otu’s determination to elevate Cross River State through visionary leadership.”
The Assembly’s tour also included inspections of security infrastructure projects, which have significantly enhanced morale and operational efficiency in the state’s security sector.
At the State CID complex, the Cross River State Commissioner of Police commended the renovations, describing them as a morale booster for law enforcement officers.
Similarly, Lt. Col. Aliyu Ibrahim Jibo of the 13 Brigade Nigerian Army expressed profound gratitude for the restoration of the brigade’s historic headquarters, which dates back to Nigeria’s colonial era.
“This is Nigeria’s oldest brigade, rich in history and significance,” Lt. Col. Jibo noted. “Governor Otu’s efforts to restore its facilities are a testament to his respect for our military legacy and commitment to holistic development. We are truly grateful.”
Responding to the accolades, Hon. Pius Ankpo, Commissioner for Works, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to delivering impactful projects that address the needs of the people.
“The commendations from the Assembly and other stakeholders reflect the success of Governor Otu’s people-first governance philosophy,” Ankpo said. “His passion for holistic development drives us, and we remain resolute in realizing his vision of a prosperous Cross River State.”
The oversight visit underscored the strong synergy between the legislative and executive arms of government in Cross River State. With these transformative projects, Governor Otu is redefining governance, creating opportunities, and laying the foundation for sustained growth and development.
From road construction to the revitalization of security infrastructure, the governor’s bold development agenda is positioning Cross River as a beacon of progress and prosperity, earning the admiration and trust of its people.
