C'River Sports Commissioner Assumes Duty, Seeks Synergy To Revamp Sector

The new Cross River Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon Agnes Atsu has stated that the ministry under her watch will explore robust synergy with key players in the sector aimed at repositioning the state of sporting facilities the state for optimum gains.
Hon. Atsu, who stated this while addressing staff upon resumption of duty posited that such effective collaboration is needed to complement intended government efforts geared toward revamping the moribund sector.
The sports boss expressed dismay over the state of facilities at the U J Esuene Stadium stressing that she will work assiduously towards ensuring the resuscitation and optimum utilization of the facilities to ensure the attainment of set targets which necessitated the provisions of such facilities.
In her words" Cross River is blessed with great sports infrastructure, especially at the U J Esuene Stadium which has remained grossly underutilized. We have to ensure upgrade these facilities to meet global standards while ensuring optimal usage for national competitions."
"We have facilities meant to provide a platform for our budding talents to exhibit and project their skills to attract the limelight. Addressing the challenge on the ground will constitute a top priority as a way of moving the sector forward."
Conducting the commissioner round the inspection, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports Development, Dr Okwenda Ogboaka congratulated Hon. Atsu on her appointment, assuring her of total cooperation and commitment of the staff to deliver on the people-first mantra with regard to the sector".
In his remarks, the Director of Sports, Cross River Sports Commission, Coach Moses Ita expressed delight over the interest demonstrated by the present administration in sports, noting that with the passion of the commissioner exhibited by the commissioner, the sector is set to regain its eroded glory.
Apart from the stadium, the commissioner also visited the Camps of Calabar Rover Football Club and Pelican Stars.
