C'River Speaker Pledges Improved Welfare Packages For Assembly Staff

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem Ekom has assured Staff of the Assembly that his administration will provide a conducive working environment and also address workers' welfare matters.
The Speaker who gave the assurance during his first meeting with staff, pledged to make provision a staff bus, well-furnished staff offices, provision of intercom services and wireless fidelity (WIFI) internet gadgets to bring the staff up to speed with current realities. According to him, "it is time to work smart, not hard."
Ayambem charged staff to be assiduous and courteous in their service to the Assembly and the State at large, adding that other Staff's welfare issues will be looked into with a view to improving them.
The Speaker further urged staff to respect constituted authority both in the Assembly and the State while introducing the slogan, "Allow Love to Lead."
He commended his colleagues for electing him as Speaker and their supportive early days in office, while pledging his comittment to a harmonious working relationship with them.
Responding, the Clerk of the House, Mr. Adie Akabisong, thanked the Speaker for the meeting, maintaining that his assurances will inspire the staff for optimal performance of their duties.
The meeting was well attended by majority of the members of 10th Assembly.
