C'River: Police Discovers Gun Plant At Abi Community, Nabs Owner

Men of the Nigerian Police in Cross River have discovered a guns-fabricating centre at Ebom community in Abi local government area of the state, in an operation led by the State Security Adviser to Governor, General Obono Eno (rtd).

The operation, carried out on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, led to the arrest of the armorer, whose name is still unknown, believed to be in the 50s age bracket, with tons of arms, ammunition and other dangerous items recovered.

Among items recovered were locally made rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) guns, short pistols, AK-47 rifles, uncountable number of bullets, as well as welding and fabricating equipment.

Ebom is among the communities in Abi local government area notorious for communal clashes with its neighbours over land and boundary skirmishes.

Recent history has it that the fierce war between Ebom and its neighbour, Ebijakara, had, years ago, left the latter sacked, leaving the people homeless without ancestral heritage to call their own.
