BREAKING: Calabar-Itu Federal Highway Blocked, Hundreds Of Cars, Truck, Passengers Stranded

Calabar-Itu federal highway has been blocked making it difficult for motorists and passengers to access Uyo and Calabar depending on the axis your coming from.
An eye-witness, Ekwerre, who spoke with The Beagle News on phone in the early hours of today, said it took them over three hours to manouvre from Odukpani junction to the power plant axis of the road.
Ekwerre said the road bloc has made it difficult for vehicular movement as over one hundred trucks were sited lining up on the highway while thousands of passengers are stranded with some trekking quite a distance.
According to the witness, Okada riders are making brisk business as they carry passengers to the either Calabar or Itu axis where they can small cars or buses to continue their journey.
He said: "Access between Calabar and Uyo has been closed since 6:00am.
"A truck fell on the only passable track blocking passage for any vehicular movement."
In the last one month, passengers have raised the alarm over the deplorable condition of some section of the road especially at the Calabar-end of the federal highway.
The Calabar/Itu road has been under construction by Julius Berger and Semertec companies for over 3 years.
A call put across to the Federal Road Safety Commander was not returned as at the time of filling this report
