C'River Info Commissioner, Ekpang Assumes Duty

The newly Sworn - in Commissioner for Information in Cross River State, Hon Erasmus Ekpang has met with staff and undertook a tour of the Ministry in Calabar, barely twenty - four hours of assumption in office.
Hon Ekpang, who was received by the Director of Information, Mrs Anita Ekpenyong and departmental heads on Thursday, went round the ministry to ascertain the state of offices and facilities.
Addressing the staff, Hon. Ekpang noted the vision of the present administration of Prince Bassey Otu, to collaborate with staff and other agencies of government to create a conducive working environment for increased productivity.
According to him, "My vision is to change the face of information, the Cross River Broadcasting Corporation, (CRBC), Calabar, the Nigerian Chronicles and other units of the ministry to be competitive and effectively promote the activities of government and move Cross River State forward".
He emphasized that, a lot needs to be done in the Ministry's headquarters, assuring that the offices will be given a face-lift as a top priority and the rebranding of the state information dissemination channels.
The Commissioner stated further that under his leadership, it's going to be a different ministry of information that will synergise with other ministries and agencies of government to keep Cross Riverians abreast of government efforts and programmes.
"Within the next few weeks, we need to work assiduously to change the face of the Ministry of Information, for instance, the portraits of the President and Governor can't be found anywhere, we need to work towards producing more portraits for government offices to purchase and ensure they are strategically placed in all offices including the private offices."
He also disclosed plans to collaborate with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and other relevant Media organisations to push for the right funding to jump start work and revamp the various units including the Cross River Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC), Calabar, State Newspaper Corporation - the Nigeria Chronicles, among others for effective service delivery.
