C'River Assembly Ratifies Odey, Lukpata, Others As 1st Batch Of Commissioner Picks

The State Assembly has confirmed 11 out of the 26 Commissioner nominees sent to the House for confirmation by the State Governor Senator Bassey Otu.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon Elvert Ayambem, had informed that the 26 nominees will be confirmed in three batches to enable the House do a thorough job.
The Speaker further advised the nominees to synergise with the House when they assume duties in their various ministries.
The confirmation of the first batch of nominees was sequel to the report of the House Committee on Judiciary, Public Service Matters, Public Petitions and Conflict Resolution presented, during plenary, by the Chairman, Rt. Hon. Davies Etta (Abi State Constituency).
According to the report, the confirmed nominees, who were screened on Monday, 31st July 2023, had met all the constitutional requirements and were also found to be fit and proper haven been subjected to proper scrutiny by the committee.
Prior to their confirmation, most of the nominees were subjected to a question and answer session to test their individual capabilities.
In their various remarks, the Lawmakers observed that, the nominees were people of integrity and commended Governor Otu for choosing people that will work with him to improve Cross River State.
In a interview with Journalists, some of the confirmed nominees including Senator Stephen Odey and Dr Mathias Unimke Angioha, expressed appreciation to God for their appointments and to Governor Otu for the privilege to serve in the State Executive Council.
Those confirmed include; Senator Stephen Odey, Dr Justin Beshel, Hon Agnes Atsu, Mrs Abigail Duke and Hon Lawrencia Ita.
Also confirmed are; Barr Ededem Ani, Dr Mathias Unimke Angioha, Dr Hipolatus Ogar Lukpata, Hon Moses Osogi, Chief Felix Idem and Hon Ewa Robert Abubakar.
