CRISPON Mobilises Thousands in Cross River, Declares Support for Tinubu, Otu Ahead of 2027

The Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON) has declared total support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Bassey Edet Otu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This was revealed during a political event held at the Calabar Stadium, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, where the Director General of CRISPON, Dr. Michael Nku Abuo, addressed the people.

According to the Director General, the mobilization efforts cut across the three senatorial districts of the state, with representatives drawn from all 196 wards and 18 local government areas. He noted that the Calabar Stadium rally had over 70,000 attendees, while another event at Ecom Secondary School drew more than 6,000 participants.

“In the northern senatorial district alone, we had over 7,000 people from 54 wards. Altogether, we mobilized over 25,000 persons across the state to support President Tinubu and the government of Cross River State,” Dr. Abuo said.

He emphasized that although the current administration faces challenges, they are not unique to Nigeria. “Even the United States and the United Kingdom face their own issues,” he remarked, urging citizens to be patient as the government works to improve the nation.

He commended President Tinubu for the removal of fuel subsidies, noting that it has boosted allocations to states and local governments. “This move has empowered states and LGAs to carry out impactful projects,” he stated.

He also used the occasion to urge President Tinubu to prioritize Cross River State in terms of federal appointments and infrastructure, specifically calling for attention to the Calabar-Ogoja and Calabar-Oyo roads. He also appealed for a replacement for Dr. Betta Edu, the former minister from the state.

“We are politically and totally behind President Tinubu and Governor Otu for 2027. In Cross River and Nigeria, there is no vacancy in 2027,” he declared.

Governor Bassey Otu, who could not be physically present, addressed the gathering through a phone call during the event. He expressed his appreciation to the CRISPON leadership and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the people of Cross River State.

“I want to assure you that the government will take care of the issues raised. More appointments will come, and opportunities will be opened up. We’re moving forward and not backward,” he said.

He thanked the organizers for their efforts. “If I can’t join you on the 24th, we will shift the date. But thank you for coming out in your numbers,” he added.
