Coastal Highway: FG To Flag Off Calabar Section In Two Weeks

The federal government has concluded plans to commence the construction of the Calabar axis of the Lagos -Calabar Coastal highway before the end of this month in the Cross River capital city.

Senate President,Senate Godswill Akpabio who made the disclosure in Calabar yesterday at the South- South All Progressives Congress,APC Stakeholders Meeting stated that; " President Bola Tinubu has given approval for the commencement of the Calabar section of the strategic Lagos -Calabar Coastal Highway."

"The Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi is expected to flag off the construction of this strategic project two weeks from now. This landmark project is intended to stimulate economic development and ensure ease of doing business across the states expected to be linked by the long span of this road network."

Akpabio continued" The Lagos-Calabar coastal highway demonstrates the commitment of Mr President to bolster economic development in the zone, stimulate Nigeria's blue economy, restore hope, attract investors as well as give our people a sense of belonging."

On the essence of the APC South South Stakeholders Meeting, Akpabio revealed that the occasion was designed to appraise the contributions of the zone to the emergence of the Tinubu presidency and to galvanize by- partisan support needed guarantee the success of the current administration at the center.

"We came here to celebrate the significant contributions of APC and its allies within the zone who contributed immensely towards the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the polls. And since Mr President mounted the saddle,he has not disappointed the South South. We are grateful to him for ensuring the return of the Senate Presidency to the Zone 45 years after. This is a product of strong resolve and dedication to the ideal of equity and fairness."

He described the Senate Presidency as an ample opportunity for the South South to foster cohesion, harmony, and integration with the central government for the overall benefits of the zone.

He implored party stalwarts to remain loyal and committed to enable the APC expand its tentacles in the region given its strategic importance to national polity.

On his part, Governor of Cross River and chief host of the meeting, Senator Bassey Otu pledged to work hard to ensure that the zone is accorded its dues in terms of federal appointments and projects
