Labour Strike: FG Meets NLC Today
By Missang AKPET
Owing to unresolved issues between Organised Labour and the Federal Government over fuel subsidy palliatives, Labour leadership has been summoned to an emergency meeting with the FG today Monday 18.
The meeting is in a bid to prevent the labour unions from embarking on the planned indefinite strike in protest over issues bothering on the removal of fuel subsidy.
The Minister of labour, Simon Bako Lalong who is convening the meeting said it was important that labour sits with government to resolve all pending matters so as to avert further disruptions to the economic activities.
Meanwhile, at the National Executive Council meeting of the NLC held in Abuja on August 31, an agreement was reached to embark on a two day warning strike on September 5 before going on an indefinite strike on Thursday, September 14.
4 days after the September 14 indefinite strike deadline , Nigerian workers have been left bemused and in the dark as no formal information concerning what is expected of workers in that respect has come from NLC.
However ,it is hoped that the proposed meeting brings to an end all lingering issues between the two parties..
