Church Leader Wants All To Imbibe Culture Of Service

The Calabar North Stake *President of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter -day Saints, President* Akwaowo Ekong Joseph has called on people worldwide to imbibe a culture of Service to humanity as an expression of love.
The Stake President who was speaking in the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA premises, one of the sites for the Africa Service project holding worldwide emphasized the importance of Service to the world.
President Akwaowo noted that acts of love as examplified by the church have the capacity to make the world a better place and can build unity among citizens of the country.
He said it's essential to offer service unconditionally and that this is what the gospel of Jesus Christ is all about.
He said Prophets in the book of Mormon taught that when we are in the service of humanity we are in the service of God adding that the Africa Service project being commemorated is one way to follow that admonition.
According to him, the occasion affords all members the opportunity to see service from the saviours angle by doing good to all.
Answering questions from the media, the Stake President disclosed that the project was an annual event undertaken by the church worldwide and noted that at the end of the exercise thousands of man - hours should have been put into the service of humanity.
Speaking at Old Adiabo Road, site of one of the projects, a community leader and resident, Mr Okon Emmanuel Edet expressed appreciation to the Church for the service and called on residents to emulate the church.
He said from now all forms of anti environment activities would be reported to the relevant agencies for action.
Also speaking, the head of the Primary Health Centre, Ikot Omini , Adidi Archibong thanked the church for the service and prayed that what has been done would never go unrewarded.
