Christmas: C'River Lawmaker Fetes Constituents, Demands Team Work, Prayers

Hon. Bassey Akiba, the lawmaker representing Calabar Municipality and Odukpani Federal constituency  has tasked his constituents to work together with him as a team and pray for greater development.

Hon. Akiba made the appeal at his residence in Asari Eso, Calabar Municipality while hosting thousands of constituents in a get together to mark this year's Christmas anniversary.

He emphasized that governance is beyond an individual and requires collective effort to ensure Democratic dividends.

"Christmas is the biggest of birthdays and this is a time we must imbibe the teachings of Christ himself.

"We need to show love and also put a shoulder for each other to lean on.

"We put this together to share with our people and we are also extending this to others who are not here and visiting motherless babies homes to show love.

"For us to get to where we all desire to be, we need to work together, support each other and try to carry everyone along.

''The business of governance is not just about who was elected but our collective effort, there is a lot we can learn from each other.

"Above all, we also continue to pray because there is a whole lot going on which we may not achieve with our power alone but can do so with God's help", he said

Several cultural groups graced the ceremony and the lawmaker was also presented with an Award of Honour by the Nzuko Ndi Abia Community in Cross River State
