The chairperson of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) branch, comrade Patrick Ushie, has disclosed that members would down tools in two weeks over government Non-Implementation of agreements.
For over a decade ASUU and government have been at loggerhead over failure of the later to abide by agreements reached between the duo.
Ushie in a press briefing held at Ogoja Campus of UNICROSS yesterday, said Prof Nimi Bricks committee concluded negotiation on behalf of government but government reneged in signing the document.
Some of the key lingering issues, he stated, include
renegotiation of 2009 agreement with federal government, non-payment of
35% and 25% salary award to UNICROSS staff, and non-Implementation of 30,000 minimum wage adjustment for
UNICROSS staff.
Ushie further disclosed that UNICROSS staff were not captured for palliative as state workers just as
federal government has been insensitive to our plight as University workers.
According him, if federal government and states fail to address negotiated package in two weeks, "industrial harmony will not be guaranteed."
