August-Born Care Foundation Visits Uyo Correctional Centre

As part of activities to mark its annual Convention, the August- Born Care Foundation in Akwa Ibom has donated food stuff, toiletries and clothing materials to the Medium Security Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Services, Uyo.
Speaking during the visit, President of the foundation, Mr Itoro Etim said the visit was in tandem with the humanitarian posture of the the ground which is geared towards love and concerns for the well-being of the humanity.
Mr Etim disclosed that the key essence of their visit was to provide succor to inmates of the center and to offer support services to compliment the efforts of government.
"We have existed for three years now as Foundation,but this is the first time we are visiting the Correctional Facility. We came here to give what we have to the inmates in a bid o compliment government efforts in addressing heir welfare need."
The August-Born President intimated the Controller with the activities of the Foundation, revealing that, "We feel happy that God is using our little efforts touching lives in diverse ways."
In his remarks ,the Deputy Controller of Corrections in Charge of the facility, Archibong Ekong commended the Foundation for its humanitarian posture as demonstrated by series of activities aimed at reaching out to the society.
He expressed gratitude to the Foundation for choosing to visit the Uyo Correctional Facility disclosing that he will ensure that his wife, who is an August-born is enlisted in the group.
According to him,"I have been following your activities on the social media but I never knew that you had this Center in mind. For this show of love, all I can say is thank you and I pray God to continue to bless this Foundation". He further advised the Foundation to sustain the good works relentlessly, lamenting that most people always avoid taking their humanitarian services to the Correctional Centre due to wrong notions."
Responding on behalf of others, an inmate who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed appreciation to the Foundation for the visit and donations which ranged from gifts food items, toiletries to a sundry items. He led other inmates in songs and prayers for the Foundation.
