Anxiety As Otu Meets C'River APC Stakeholders Sept. 28

An air of anxiety pervades the Cross River state political family of All Progressives Congress (APC) as Governor Bassey Otu is set to meet with the party leadership.
The meeting convened by the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Alphonsus Eba, Esq, invited critical stakeholders to a meeting with the governor via invitation signed by the acting State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Emmanuel Edem Inyang.
Dignatories expected at the meeting, which would hold on Thursday, September 28, at the Calabar International Convention Center, CCIC, Calabar at 4pm, include the Deputy Governor, Peter Odey, Speaker, Elvert Ayambem, former governors and Deputy Governor, Serving and former APC National Assembly members, All serving NEC and SEC members of the party to the all important meeting.
Also invited are serving and former APC Ministers, ambassadors, members of the house of Assembly , Secretary to Government, Chief of Staff to the Governor and all serving and former members of the executive.
Others include Special Advisers , DGs, Chairmen of Boards and Commissions and Agencies, former Chairmen of Councils, Chapter Chairmen were among the invitees while few elders stakeholders who were not captured in the list would be invited through SMS.
The meeting, which is strictly by invitation may have been called to address some teething issues that have threatened the peace in the APC family in the state with a view to dousing the tension.
Findings revealed that since Otu made appointments in the state, there has been disquiet among the stakeholders, who have queried his choices and the selection process.
Sources close to the APC disclosed that all have not been well within the party as they have accused the Governor of running an "inner cabinet" that has been involved in all political appointments and taking key policy decisions, contrary to what his promise during electioneering.
The Beagle News learnt that these have put the Governor at loggerheads with some party leaders who felt alienated as they are afraid that they may not be appointments to accommodate them.
The major stakeholders, who are still outside government but were the foot soldiers, are afraid that they may lose out at the ongoing political chess game.
It is expected that the meeting would address the sharing formula for contracts for the remaining category of members that may not be accommodated in the few offices left to be filled.
Information reaching The Beagle News reveal that the meeting will hold under very tight security to stop leakages to the media.
Meanwhile there's anxiety all over the land as Cross Riverians are anxious to hear from the tribunal on the matter before it bothering on the credibility of the last governorship election results.
