Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly receives list of Commissioner/Special Adviser designates

he Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has receive the list of Commissioners/Special Advisee designates from the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno.
In a letter sent by His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, today Thursday 20th July, 2023, the Commissioners/Special Adviser designates are as follows;
Sir Monday Ebong Uko, Uko Essien Umoh, SAN, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, Dr. Nsikan Nkan, Mr. Bob Almond Emem, Captain Iniobong Ekong Rtd, Chief Bassey Okon, Sir Charles Udoh, Hon. Orman Esin, Dr. Offiong Offoh, Engr. Camillus Umoh, Rt. Hon. Uno Etim Uno, Otuekong Raphael Bassey, Elder Aniefiok Nkom, Prof. Eno Ibanga, Rt. Hon. Frank Archibong, Prof. Augustine Umoh, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, Comr. Ini Ememobong, Dr. Imo Moffat, Eno Mbobo, Mr. John James Etim, Gen. Koko Essien Rtd and Elder Amanam Nkanga as Special Adviser.
The 8th Assembly also received a motion titled; 'The need to implement the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency' by Hon. Moses Essien, member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency.
Presenting the motion on the floor of the house, Hon. Moses Essien stated that the aim of bill is to ensure that every indigene and resident of Akwa Ibom State have access to good healthcare services.
Hon. Moses Essien pointed out that patients are going through financial distress due to the rising cost of healthcare services compounded by inflation and recent fuel subsidy removal, leaving some medical conditions untreated which worsens and escalate symptoms and sometimes leading to death.
Recall that this motion was brought to the floor of the house, enacted and accented to by the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel on Tuesday 8th February, 2022.
"It is more than a year since this law was passed but there is no mechanism put in place to ensure it's implementation for the people of Akwa Ibom State* Hon. Essien decried.
The House resolved that the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health should come up an implementation plan for Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency, as well as mandate relevant and outstanding Committees to ensure compliance.
The motion was referred to the House Committee on Health for further legislative action.
Other motions presented at plenary today are; Notice for Enforcement of Road Traffic Law to reduce avoidable incidences of Road Traffic accidents in Uyo Capital City and other Roads in Akwa Ibom State by Hon. Prince Sampson Idiong, member representing Oruk Anam State Constituency, and the Motion for Resolution for Enforcement of Security Measures for Fishermen and Businesses in Akwa Ibom State Coastal Communities by Hon. Mrs Selinah Ukpatu, member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency.
The house adjourned plenary to Tuesday 25th July, 2023.
