minent Nigerians across the country have continued to applaud the emergence of Akwa Ibom's former Governor and one-time Minister, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godwill Akpabio as Senate President.

Amongst the endless list of well-wishers to congratulate Senator Akpabio is a former ranking member of the Senate and current the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume. 

According to the SGF, the emergence of Senator Akpabio, his Deputy, Senator Barau Jibrin, House of Representatives Speaker, Rt.Hon. Tajudeen Abbas as well as his Deputy, Hon Benjamin Kalu signpost "a victory for democracy which epitomize the unity of purpose, inclusivity in governance and stability in the polity vital to the realisation of the Renewed Hope agenda of the current administration.

Akume, a former Governor of Benue opined that "the emergence of the 10th Assembly leadership led by Senator Akpabio and other principal officers elected in tandem with the ruling party's nomination list would usher in "a robust, close and collaborative working relationship between the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government while safeguarding their independence for the overall benefits of the country"

Senator Akume expressed appreciation to members of the 10th Assembly for their bipartisan support and cooperation demonstrated towards the unveiling of the 10th NASS leadership.

In the same vein, Senator Ali Ndume who nominated Senator Godwill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom North West on the floor of the Red Chambers ahead the contest has posited that the victory of Akpabio as the President 10th Nigerian Senate as a replica of Senator Ahmed Lawan's victory in the 9th Assembly due to the massive backing from President Bola Tinubu.

 Ndume said he was shocked when Akpabio when Akpabio garnered 63 votes against Yari's 46 having been assured by 62 Senators that they will cast their votes in favour of President Tinubu's preferred choice.

Senator Ndume who spoke on Channel Television, "Politics Today" said, "What we did was not magic; it was more politics, but thank God, it turned out the way we wanted.  I think it's good for our democracy, and for the country”

Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom Governor, Pst. Umo Eno has promised to cultivate a robust synergy with the new Senate President for the betterment of Akwa Ibom people.

 Governor Eno who spoke at Akpabio's Abuja residence during a reception shortly after the inauguration expressed delight over the victory of Akpabio whom he described as the pride of Akwa Ibom in his words "We had a fruitful discussion on the future of the state and nation. Together, we are committed to working tirelessly for the progress and prosperity of Akwa Ibom"
