A TRIBUTE TO THE PRINCE WHO REMOVED OUR SHAME

Honouring Leadership, Courage, and a Promise Fulfilled
Papa DC Enamhe (Papa Ukpere I of Basang Nation)
As I reflect on the journey to bring the remains of the late Senate President home, I am reminded of the pivotal role played by a remarkable leader. Little did I know that my travel plans to London would take a dramatic turn when the Prince called me to discuss a matter of utmost importance.
THE QUEST BEGINS
Our team, including Johnny Agim SAN, was determined to bring the late Senate President’s body back to Nigeria for a proper burial. We met with the Governor who, while skeptical at first, eventually encouraged us to proceed. His words still echo:
“Go and bring the body; if you succeed, I will appreciate you.”
UNWAVERING DEDICATION
Our team worked tirelessly, with members in the UK, US, and Canada contributing to the effort. Despite challenges and setbacks, we remained resolute in our mission. The Canadian team, led by Prof. Solomon Ugabi, played a crucial role, while Dr. Mrs. Maria Ogar’s US team provided invaluable support.
THE TURNING POINT
The Prince’s leadership and conviction were instrumental in our success. With the Governor’s eventual support, we were able to bring the late Senate President’s remains home. On November 30, 2024, the remains were laid to rest in a dignified ceremony attended by prominent leaders and grateful citizens.
A MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE
As the Prince marks his second year in office, I join the people of Northern Cross River in celebrating his unwavering leadership and vision. Your role in this mission brought closure to a grieving people and restored dignity to a proud community.
We remain eternally grateful.
Sincerely,
Papa DC Enamhe
