2027: Anambra APC Chieftain Accuses Tinubu of Allegedly Backing Soludo's Second Term Bid To Fight Obi

From Omaka OKOH, ABAKALIKI
All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and the governorship aspirant in Anambra state, Valentine Ozigbo, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is discreetly supporting Gov Charles Soludo's Second bid.
Ozugbo said the Presidency's secret romance with Soludo is to see how Dr. Peter Obi's towering influence in the state can be whittled down.
There is in no love lost between Obi and Suludo as the later had fought hard to ensure that the former lost the 2023 Presidential election in Anambra.
In an interview with Arise TV, he alleged that supporters of President Tinubu are favouring Governor Charles Soludo's re-election as a strategy to counter Peter Obi's influence in the state.
The aspirant said: "There is an allegation that the President wants Soludo to come back because of Peter Obi. He sees him as an opponent of Obi, and therefore there's some understanding that Soludo will return, and even if that is correct, that is an inferior proposition," he said.
Suggesting that Governor Soludo may have presented himself as a bulwark against the Labour Party, Ozigbo said:
"Soludo must have gone to whoever to say, like they're saying now, that APC is weak; his problem is Labour, and so support me in APGA so that I will come back because you don't want Labour to win in Anambra State.
"My defection has transformed APC's electoral prospects. APC is weak, Labour is strong, who in Labour? Valentine Ozigbo. My leaving Labour to join APC has made the party strong today, and this is why I'm fighting this battle.
"I don't want this type of deal where Soludo is APGA in the afternoon and APC in the night, and so you create a confusion; you're not strengthening the party, you're not helping anybo
dy," he stated.
