100 Days In Office: Women Affairs Commissioner Congratulates Gov. Otu

The Cross River State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Edema Irom, has congratulated His Excellency, the state Governor, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu on the giant strides he has made towards achieving his 'People First' mandate within the first 100 days of his administration.
Hon. Irom made the statement in her office, recently, while responding to questions from the Press on the occasion of 100 days celebration of Gov. Otu's administration.
She expressed optimism that Sen. Prince Otu will certainly deliver on his mandate of socio-economic transformation of the state through his people oriented leadership style as well as his massive economic emancipation drive demonstrated at the just concluded International Co-operation and Investment Summit held at the Calabar International Convention center.
The Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs reiterated Gov. Otu's resolve to ensure gender mainstreaming and the holistic development of Women, children as well as the vulnerable population across the state.
To drive this process, Hon. Irom carried out an inspection tour of facilities across all departments and units within her ministry such as; the Women development Centre at Parliamentary Road, Calabar as well as the Family Support Nursery/Primary School among others.
The Commissioner decried the deplorable condition of some of the facilities she visited and called on relevant authorities to ensure that those facilities were reclaimed by the Ministry of Women Affairs to serve as " One-stop-shop" for women and children developmental programmes.
In a related development, the Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs in Collaboration with UN-Women, Women in Politics and other stakeholders organised a National Dialogue with leaders of all political parties to review charter demands for women in politics through inter - party leadership at the Transcorp Hotel, Calabar.
Highlight of the event was the decoration of the"He for she"- men who identify with the Women in their struggle for gender equity and development.
Hon. Irom also featured in a live programme on CRBC in which she expounded on the mandate of her Ministry and called on all well meaning Cross Riverians to Support the administration of Sen. Prince Otu, adding that, "the season of sweetness has come indeed and all Cross Riverians will be part-takers of this sweetness."
