Just In: Ebonyi State: AE-FUNAI Council Promotes 5, Professors, 8 Readers
The Governing Council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, at its 48th Regular Meeting held on Wednesday, 15th July, 2026, has approved the promotion of 13 distinguished academic staff.
The Council approved 5 academic staff to the rank of professor, 8 to Readers and regularized the appointment of one other person to professor.
The newly-promoted Clarivate Professors of the university include: Agboti Christian Iheanacho (Professor of Industrial Sociology), Anochiwa Lasbery Ifeanyichukwu (Professor of Energy Economics), Ugwu Joy Nnonyelum (Professor of Human Resource Management), Ibiam Okechukwu Egwu (Professor of Development Studies), and Uduma Ngozi Eje (Professor of Digital Studies, while Ossai Edmund Ndudi was regularized to a Professor of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases.
The Readers include: Dr. Nkwo Adachukwu Nwaka (Reader in Industrial Chemistry, Dr. Okwuowulu Charles Chinonso (Reader in Film Studies), Dr. Okafor Chiedozie Okechukwu (Reader in Social Psychology), and Dr. Nkwo Nelson (Reader in Banking). Others include: Dr. Nwankwo Onyinye Anne (Reader in Applied Linguistic and Igbo Studies), Dr. Tyopine Andrew Aondoaver (Reader in Analytical and Environmental Chemistry), Dr. Amadi Solomon Okechukwu (Reader in Atmospheric Physics), and Dr. Ogbu Chukwuka Nwachukwu (Reader in Post-Colonial African Literature).
Speaking on the approvals, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Daniel Nwachukwu congratulated the promoted staff, describing the exercise as strictly merit-based.
“These promotions reflect AE-FUNAI’s commitment to excellence, transparency and fairness. Under my administration, no qualified staff will be shortchanged. Every deserving staff will be promoted as and when due”, he stated.
Prof. Nwachukwu charged the new professors and readers to embrace higher responsibility in teaching, research and community service, and to continue to uphold the university’s vision of becoming a globally-competitive institution.
