Jarigbe Upgrades Nkum School to Technical College

The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has facilitated the upgrading of Nkum Secondary School, Ibil, in Ogoja Local Government Area, to a Government Technical College through the Petroleum Technology Development Fund.

The intervention will enable the construction and installation of modern technical training facilities at the institution, aimed at strengthening vocational and technical education while expanding access to practical skills acquisition for students in the area.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Senator Jarigbe, who was represented by his Constituency Officer, Mr Egar Mgbantul, said the upgrade would address technical manpower gaps and equip youths with vocational skills to enhance self-sufficiency.

Mr Egar Mgbantul formally handed over the institution to Wishnefisky Global Limited, the firm awarded the contract for the construction works and installation of technical equipment. The handover marked the official commencement of the project.

The upgraded institution is designed to provide students with practical, job-related skills across various professions. It will offer specialized hands-on training in areas such as Information and Communication Technology, healthcare, automotive technology, culinary arts, and other technical fields.

The project is expected to boost employability, promote self-reliance among youths, and contribute significantly to human capital development in Cross River North Senatorial District.

Responding on behalf of the host community, Mr Emmanuel Adima expressed gratitude to Senator Jarigbe for his dedication to the development of the senatorial district. He said the upgrade of the school to a technical college would have lasting positive effects on education and youth empowerment in Ogoja and the wider Cross River North.

Adima also commended the Senator for his continued efforts to improve educational infrastructure and create opportunities for young people, describing the project as a major boost to technical education in the district.
