Ikom LG Chairman Presents ₦13.2 Billion 2026 Budget Tagged "Budget of Strengthening Democracy Through Empowermen,"

The chairman of Ikom Local Government Council, Hon. Pst. Mercy Nsor, has unveiled the 2026 budget, themed "Budget of Strengthening Democracy Through Empowerment," with a total allocation of ₦13,217,469,612.

Presenting the budget at the Ikom legislative chamber on Thursday, the chairman stated that the budget focuses on infrastructure and development projects, with Recurrent Revenue projected at ₦3,136,951,837 and Capital Expenditure at ₦7,125,422,622.

Sectoral allocations in the budget include; Economic Sector ₦1,842,557,000 (25.34%) for trade and commerce; Social Service Sector ₦2,088,048,500 (28.71%) for healthcare and education; Environment & Regional Development ₦1,054,950,000 (14.51%) for sustainability;

General Administration ₦2,286,702,890 (31.44%) for effective governance.

Hon. Nsor highlighted achievements from the 2025 revised budget and outlined key projects, including solar borehole rehabilitation, VIP toilet construction, and solar panel street lights while emphasizing empowering youths and women, and providing social amenities to strengthen democracy.
