The Executive Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area, Hon. Pastor Mercy Nsor, has led a state project monitoring team on an inspection of ongoing road construction projects in Ikom.

The team, which comprises the Cross River State Director of the Road Maintenance Agency, Dr. Nji Patrick Nji, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, was in Ikom to inspect and assess ongoing road projects in the council area facilitated by Governor Bassey Otu.

Speaking during the site inspection, the Chairman of Ikom Local Government Council said Ikom, as the commercial nerve centre of the state, deserves good, accessible roads that will encourage businessmen, traders and farmers alike to carry out their daily activities with ease.

She lauded the state governor for showing once again that he is truly a people’s governor by listening to the plight of the people of Ikom and for prioritizing Ikom in the state’s development agenda.

“Indeed, the Season of Sweetness continues to spread as Sweet Mother Street, Mile 2 and other adjoining streets which are major commercial roads in Ikom, are beginning to wear a new look, courtesy of our Governor, the Sweet Prince,” she said.

“We’re currently on site with state government officials and work is ongoing. The site manager has confirmed to us that they have been fully mobilized and in a few weeks from today, both roads will wear new looks,” she said.

Also speaking, the Cross River State Director of the Road Maintenance Agency, Dr. Nji Patrick Nji, disclosed that the governor had approved funds for the projects while assuring the people of Ikom that the contractors would not leave site until the entire job is completed.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, who was also part of the inspection team, reassured Ikom citizens that more projects would follow as the governor is intentional about bringing massive development to the area.

The contractor, Engr. Ndifon Ndifon, while welcoming the team to site, revealed that they had been fully mobilized to site and assured that in a couple of weeks, the projects would be completed.
