Hold Gov Otu Responsible If Anything Happens To Me - Alphonsus Eba Petitions IG, DSS

The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, Alphonsus Ogar Eba Esq, has accused Governor Bassey Otu of lawlessness and disregard for court orders over alleged moves to demolish his residential buildings.
In a statement on Friday, Eba alleged that despite a subsisting restraining order against the demolition, agents of the State Government invaded his property on October 8, 2026, and pasted a Final Demolition Notice on his fence.
Eba recalled that on June 29, 2026, the State Government had served him a demolition notice on his residential building, which prompted him to approach the court.
According to him, the court granted a restraining order against the demolition and any further action by the Governor or his agents, and later extended the order when the Government sought adjournment to respond.
"It is shocking, revolting and very disturbing that in the face of a subsisting order of a court of competent jurisdiction, the Government decided to invade my peaceful possession yesterday 8th October 2026, and defaced my fence wall by painting and pasting a FINAL DEMOLITION NOTICE with plans to demolish the property at any hour of the night," Eba stated.
The PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate described the action as contempt of court, adding that he has notified security agencies.
He raised alarm over his safety and that of his family, saying Governor Otu should be held responsible if anything happens to him, his family members, supporters or property.
Eba, who linked the alleged plot to the 2027 election, vowed not to withdraw from the race.
"If the plan to break this property is meant to break my spirit for the 2027 election, then I make bold to say that Governor Otu has only emboldened my spirit to pursue this ambition with added vigor and vitality. nothing will make me withdraw from the race," he declared.
He further alleged that there had been assassination attempts on him and members of his party on May 11, 2026 in Calabar, September 28, 2026 in Odukpani, and October 2, 2026 at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Calabar South.
Eba appealed to his supporters to remain calm and not retaliate, stressing that his desire to serve is not worth the blood of any Cross Riverian.
He called on the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the State Security Service, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to call the Governor to order.
