FUEL STATIONS SHUTDOWN IN CALABAR

Fuel stations in Calabar have remained shut since the early hours of today, following industrial disharmony between the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Dangote Refinery, leaving private and public motorists stranded within Calabar Metropolis.
A check by our reporters, revealed that fuel stations along popular areas including Efio-Ete Junction, Marian/Ndidem Usang Iso, MCC, Parliamentary and Murtala Muhammed Highway, were locked. This has caused scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit also known as fuel in the city of Calabar .
As a result of this, transportation fares have suddenly increased. For instance, from Efio-Ete Junction to MCC Mobil, which was N100, is now N200. From Efio-Ete to Marian Market which was also N100, is now N200. From the popular Watt Market to 8Miles Junction, which was initially N600, is now N800. The sudden increment has left passengers with no other option but resort to trekking to their destinations.
