Federal Government Announces Friday, as Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Maulid

The Federal Government has declared Friday, 5th September 2025, as a public holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Unto Him.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja. The statement was further communicated through the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and worldwide, urging them to reflect on the Prophet's timeless virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion. He emphasized that these values continue to be crucial in building a united, prosperous, and progressive nation.
The Minister also called on all Nigerians, regardless of their religious background, to join in prayers for peace, security, and stability in the country. He encouraged citizens to support the government’s efforts in promoting national harmony and sustainable development.
