FCE Ididep Governing Council Chairman Conferred With Ntrukpom Chieftaincy Title

The Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Ididep, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Cletus Obun, has been conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title of “Ntrukpom”, meaning “Eagle”, by the Paramount Ruler of Ibiono Ibom, His Royal Majesty, Okuku (Dr.) Ime Udousoro Inyang.
The conferment was a major highlight of the 2026 Edu Uwem Ibiono Ibom traditional festival, held from September 4 to 7, 2026, under the theme, “Ibiono Ibom: Yesteryears, Today, and Forever.”
The traditional institution said the honour was in recognition of Obun’s personal integrity, contributions to community development and commitment to the ideals and aspirations of the Ibiono Ibom people.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Paramount Ruler stressed the importance of recognising individuals whose dedication to service contributes to societal advancement. He described Obun as a “first-class warrior for Ibiono Ibom”, citing his tenacity, courage and commitment to the growth of the community.
The monarch also acknowledged the support of individuals who had contributed to Obun’s rise and achievements.
Responding, Obun expressed appreciation to the Paramount Ruler, the Palace Advisory Council and the people of Ibiono Ibom for the honour, dedicating the title to the collective progress of the community.
He pledged to continue supporting human capital development, community advancement and greater unity among the people.
Also speaking at the well-attended ceremony, Ahmad Abdullah, Chairman of the Forum of FCE Governing Council Chairmen and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Obudu, Cross River State, commended the Paramount Ruler for honouring an active member of the forum.
Abdullah described Obun’s record of service and contribution to nation-building as exemplary.
The conferment formed part of the festival’s activities celebrating individuals whose service has made a tangible impact on Ibiono Ibom and its institutions.
