Cross River Ranked 6th With Most Qualified Public Primary School Teachers

Cross River state has been ranked the 6th state with the most qualified public primary school teachers in Nigeria.

According to a 2026 Annual Abstract of Statistics report released by the Federal Ministry of Education and published by Statistisense, Akwa Ibom state Akwa Ibom leads the country with 8,399 qualified teachers while Kano follows behind with 6,538 qualified teachers in public schools.

Cross River state comes 6th with 3,233 qualified teachers in public schools while Lagos despite being the economic center and most populated state in the country comes 8 with 2,956 qualified teachers.

 The list of the top 10 states with qualified teachers include:-

1 Akwa Ibom — 8,399

2 Kano — 6,548

3 Kaduna — 5,513

4 Oyo — 4,446

5 Jigawa — 3,660

6 Cross River — 3,233

7 Anambra — 3,198

8 Lagos — 2,956

9 Enugu — 2,750

10 Katsina — 2,644
