Cross River Chief of Staff Denies Endorsing 2027 Political Aspirants

The Chief of Staff to Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, Chief Emmanuel Ironbar, has denied endorsing any political aspirant for elective office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ironbar made the clarification in a statement issued on Thursday through the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Orientation in the Office of the Chief of Staff, Comrade Ushie Bartholomew Adie.

The statement followed reports and stories circulating on social media alleging that the Chief of Staff had endorsed some political aspirants in the state.

Describing the reports as false and misleading, Ironbar urged the public to disregard them entirely, insisting that no endorsement had been made by his office.

According to the statement, the Chief of Staff does not make public declarations on political matters unless expressly directed by Governor Bassey Otu.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Chief of Staff does not make any public statements or declarations on political matters until he is expressly directed to do so by his principal, the People’s First Governor of Cross River State,” the statement read.

Ironbar also advised political aspirants to focus on grassroots engagement and service to the people rather than relying on alleged endorsements.

He stressed that political power belongs to the people and urged aspirants to return to their constituencies to earn the trust and confidence of the electorate through genuine representation.

The statement further called on members of the public to avoid spreading false information and to rely only on official government channels for credible updates.
