At 78, Gov Otu Celebrates Asuquo Ekpenyong’s Legacy of Service, Excellence

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has felicitated elder statesman, banker, and philanthropist, Chief Dr. Asuquo Ekpenyong, on the occasion of his 78th birthday, describing him as an icon of excellence, wisdom, and selfless service.
In a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Linus Obogo, Governor Otu praised the celebrant for his enduring contributions to banking, enterprise, faith, and humanitarian service.
The governor said Chief Ekpenyong’s life remains a shining example of integrity, visionary leadership, discipline, and generosity, adding that the state was celebrating not just his age but the values and accomplishments he represents.
According to Otu, the elder statesman’s impact on the economic and social development of Cross River State is evident in the institutions he helped build, the communities he influenced, and the numerous lives he has touched over the years.
He noted that Chief Ekpenyong’s achievements have extended beyond the state and country, describing him as a symbol of steadfast excellence and commitment to humanity.
The governor further described the celebrant as a father figure and repository of wisdom whose life continues to inspire admiration and respect among people from different walks of life.
“Men of his calibre are rare gifts to society, builders of institutions, nurturers of destinies, and custodians of enduring values that strengthen the moral fabric of our people,” Otu stated.
He also paid tribute to Chief Ekpenyong’s philanthropic legacy, highlighting his investments in human capital development, community growth, and faith based initiatives.
According to the governor, the celebrant’s greatest achievements lie not only in his professional success but also in the lives he has transformed through compassion, humility, and generosity.
Offering prayers for the elder statesman, Otu prayed for continued divine favour, good health, peace, strength, and fulfillment in the years ahead.
He said Chief Ekpenyong’s life of honour, philanthropy, and fatherly guidance would remain a source of inspiration for future generations.
