Cross River Assembly Screens, Confirms Dodeye Ikpi Arikpo as Commissioner
The Cross River State House of Assembly today screened and confirmed Mr. Dodeye Ikpi Arikpo for appointment as Commissioner and Member of the Cross River State Executive Council, following the consideration of a request transmitted to the House by the Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.
The screening and confirmation took place during plenary, where the nominee was subjected to a comprehensive assessment by lawmakers. During the exercise, members examined his educational qualifications, professional experience, administrative competence, and preparedness to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and development of Cross River State.
Lawmakers commended Mr. Arikpo for his impressive credentials and articulate responses, expressing confidence in his capacity to discharge the responsibilities of the office with integrity, professionalism, and a deep commitment to public service.
At the conclusion of the exercise, the House unanimously confirmed the nomination through a voice vote, clearing the way for Mr. Dodeye Ikpi Arikpo to serve as Commissioner and Member of the Cross River State Executive Council.
Congratulating the nominee, the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, described the confirmation as a call to greater responsibility and urged him to place the interests of Cross Riverians at the centre of his service.
The Speaker charged the new Commissioner to justify the confidence reposed in him by Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu and the people of the state by serving with honesty, diligence, and a clear sense of purpose.
“Your appointment is a call to serve, The expectations of our people are high, and you must approach this responsibility with humility, integrity, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of Cross Riverians. Let every policy you champion and every decision you take reflect the People First vision of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu. Work tirelessly to justify the confidence placed in you and contribute your quota to the continued progress and prosperity of our dear state,” the Speaker stated.
