C'River Police Enforce Tinted Glass Permit Despite Court Order

By Benjamin GBOR
The Cross River State Police Command has begun enforcing the tinted glass permit directive despite a court order restraining such action.
Officers from the Akim Area Command commenced the operation on Wednesday, October 8, along the IBB Way in Calabar.
The exercise involved stopping vehicles with tinted windows and demanding proof of police-issued permits, causing traffic delays along the busy route.
It would be recalled that the Nigeria Police Force had earlier announced plans to resume the enforcement of the tinted glass permit nationwide—a move later challenged in court. The court subsequently issued an order halting the exercise.
The Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State, had ordered the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector-General of Police to suspend the enforcement of the tinted glass permit by vehicle owners.
The court directed the police and the IGP to maintain the status quo and respect judicial processes pending further proceedings.
