C’River Asset Recovery Adviser, Agbor, Refutes CNPP Endorsement Report, Reaffirms Loyalty to Gov. Otu

Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, has refuted a publication credited to the Cross River State chapter of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), which suggested his endorsement for the Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

In a statement issued in Calabar, Agbor said although he values the confidence reposed in him, he neither sought nor authorized such an endorsement.

“My attention has been drawn to a publication credited to the CNPP suggesting an endorsement of my person for the Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. While I sincerely appreciate the confidence reposed in me, I wish to respectfully clarify that I have no connection with the said publication, neither did I solicit nor authorize it,” he explained.

Agbor emphasized that his present focus is on delivering his mandate as Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Edet Otu, stressing his loyalty to the administration’s People First agenda.

“I remain committed to supporting the Governor’s ‘People First’ agenda and will not be distracted by speculations regarding political ambitions. I urge the general public, friends, and well-wishers to kindly disregard the report as it does not represent my position,” he stated.

The clarification follows a report published on September 25, 2025, by Detailing Cross River blog, quoting the Cross River CNPP as declaring readiness to back Agbor if the House of Representatives seat is ceded to Etung in the next electoral cycle.
