Cleric Admonishes Christians to Always Imbibe Spirit of Dedication, Thanksgiving

From Ogarekpe OGAREKPE (UGEP)

As part of the activities marking the 2025 Ugep New Yam Festival (Leboku), a non-denominational dedication and thanksgiving service was held recently to usher in the Leboku Festival.

Preaching on the theme “thanking God for the bountiful Harvest of the yam”, the guest preacher of the Presbyterian Church, Rev. Emmanuel Ubangha admonished Christians to always imbibe the spirit of dedication and thanksgiving so as to have more blessing from God.

The man of God who took his sermon from the book of Exodus 23:16 commended the Obol Lopon of Ugep and the Paramount Ruler of Yakurr, Obol Dr. Ofem Ubana Eteng for leading the Traditional Rulers Council to appreciate God for his blessing throughout the year and for dedicating the New Yam Festival ceremony and hand over the activities to the hands of God Almighty.

In his remark, the Paramount Ruler and Obol Lopon of Ugep, Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng said he decided to seek the face of God first before the full commencement of the Leboku Festival pointing out that the annual festivity cannot be done without the mercy of God and charged sons and daughters of Ugep and well-wishers to participate fully.

The highpoint of the well-attended Leboku New Yam Festival non-denominational thanksgiving and dedication service which was held at Obol Lopon Roundabout was empowered to the vulnerable and aged people.
