BREAKING: Police Seal PDP National Secretariat

Operatives of the Nigeria Police on Wednesday sealed the National Secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

The closure followed a violent face-off between two factions, resulting in firing of teargas of opposing supporters of the party on Tuesday.

Recall that the Saminu Turaki-led faction clashed with members loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike at the main opposition party’s national secretariat.

During the confrontation, Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State were reportedly teargassed.

Later, the factional National Executive Committee (NEC) loyal to Wike ratified the expulsion of Governors Makinde, Mohammed and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara States alongside a former Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara; former National Vice Chairman, Chief Bode George, and newly elected National Chairman, Turaki, SAN.

The decision came in the wake of last Saturday’s PDP national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, where Wike and ten others, including former governors, serving lawmakers, and key party figures, were suspended over alleged anti-party activities.

The Ibadan convention, convened by the rival faction, accused Wike’s bloc of attempting to “destabilise the party structure” ahead of a planned nationwide reorganisation.

On Tuesday, both factions arrived at the PDP National Secretariat in Wadata Plaza to hold parallel NEC and Board of Trustees meetings.

The clash resulted in a chaotic scene, with security operatives struggling to separate supporters from both

camps, leading to heated arguments, pushing, and commotion.
