APC Dismisses Circulating Senatorial Candidates List as False

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from a purported list of senatorial candidates making the rounds on social media, insisting that the document is unauthorised and does not represent the party's official position.

‎In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the publication titled “Concluded List of APC Senatorial Candidates So Far” as misleading and entirely false.

‎According to the party, the list was not issued through any of its recognised communication channels and should be ignored by members of the public.

‎Morka stated that the APC had observed the widespread circulation of the document across various online platforms and social media spaces, stressing that it did not originate from the party.

‎He explained that only the party's National Working Committee (NWC), through officially designated channels, has the authority to announce candidates that emerge from primary elections and other processes stipulated by the party's constitution.

‎The APC further cautioned against the spread of unverified information, warning that such reports could create confusion among party supporters and the general public while also undermining confidence in its internal democratic procedures.

‎The clarification follows the party's senatorial primaries conducted in May 2026 in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The exercise produced several notable outcomes, including the return of some incumbent senators and the emergence of a number of serving governors as senatorial flagbearers.

‎During the screening process, 47 aspirants were disqualified, among them former Bayelsa East senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, and Cross River State Commissioner, Oden Ewa.
