The All Progressives Congress on Wednesday formally began preparations for its 2026 National Convention with the inauguration of a Central Coordination Committee at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
The convention, scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2026, is expected to bring together party leaders and delegates from across the country. The inauguration ceremony was attended by top officials of the party, including members of the National Working Committee and other stakeholders.
A major highlight of the event was the appointment of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the South South Development Commission, Ms. Usoro Akpabio, as Secretary of the Venue Committee. She will oversee logistics and coordinate arrangements for the convention venue, a responsibility considered central to the smooth conduct of the gathering.
In his address, APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda described the forthcoming convention as a significant milestone for the party. He stressed that the exercise must demonstrate unity, transparency, and a strong commitment to internal democracy. He urged members of the committee to carry out their duties with professionalism, inclusiveness, and integrity.
The Chairman of the Central Coordination Committee, former Governor Aminu Bello Masari, thanked the party leadership for the trust placed in the team. He assured members that the committee would work diligently to deliver a well organized and credible convention, and called on party faithful nationwide to support the process.
With the committee now in place, the APC has taken a decisive step toward organizing what it hopes will be a successful and smoothly executed national convention in 2026.
