Akwa United snatch late winner to top NNL B2 South; Rovers drop to eighth

Akwa United edged Calabar Rovers 1-0 at the Uyo Township Stadium in Week 10 of the Nigeria National League B2 Southern Conference. Substitute Aniebiet Sunday struck in the dying minutes, sealing all three points for the hosts.  

The victory lifts Akwa United to the top of the Southern Conference table with 22 points from 10 matches. Rovers, who struggled to break down a compact home defence, remain in eighth place on 10 points.  

Akwa United’s coach praised his side’s patience, while Rovers will look to rebound next round to climb out of mid-table.
