2027: Qua Consultative Forum Endorses Akiba For Second Term, Insists on Existing Zoning Arrangement

The Qua Consultative Forum has restated its total commitment to the existing zonal political arrangements between the Odukpani and Calabar Municipality local government areas, thereby endorsing Rep Ekepenyong Akiba for the second term.
The Forum, which comprises of respected elders, political stakeholders, community leaders, youth representatives, women leaders, and opinion moulders from the Quas of Calabar Municipality, maintained that it is the right of the Odukpani local government axis to complete its second tenure in line with the spirit and understanding of the existing rotational arrangement.
This decision is contained in a communique obtained by THE BEAGLE NEWS after an enlarged session which deliberated extensively on the issue of zoning and equitable representation for the House of Representatives seat in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly. The communique was signed by about 49 persons including Comrade Iso Bassey Edim (Nyagasang Qua clan), Ekong Eyo ( Akim Qua), Christopher Agbor (Ikpai clan), Elder Offiong Eta (Big Qua clan), Ntufam Okon E. Ekpo (Ediba Qua), and Augusta Oqua Bassey (Nkonib),
The group said after careful consultations and exhaustive deliberations, zoning became pertinent to uphold the principles of fairness, justice, equity, peace and political stability within the constituency.
The Forum, therefore, resolved among others, "that the existing zoning arrangement within the Federal Constituency was established to promote unity, inclusiveness, political harmony, and balanced representation. among the constituent local government axis.
"That the zoning understanding over the years contributed immensely to peaceful political transitions and mutual trust among the various blocs and stakeholders within the constituency.
"That the Forum recognizes and affirms the right of the Odukpani Local Government Axis to complete its second tenure in line with the spirit and understanding of the existing rotational arrangement.
"That the Forum further resolves that upon the successful completion of the second tenure by the Odukpani Axis, the next representative for the House of Representative seat should rightly emerge from the Calabar Municipality Axis in the interest of fairness, continuity, and mutual respect for established political agreements.
"That the Forum calls on all political leaders, stakeholders, youths, support groups, and aspiring candidates across the constituency, respectfully including our revered, esteemed and highly respected royal institutions to give their blessings and others to uphold the principles of unity, maturity, and peaceful coexistence by respecting the zoning arrangement for the overall development and stability of the Federal Constituency."
The Forum strongly advised against actions, utterances, and political activities capable of causing disunity, tension or ing constituency, enjoining "all political parties and interested aspirants are encouraged to align with this collective position in the interest of justice, equity, and sustained peace among the people."
According to them, the Qua Forum remains committed to promoting dialogue, fairness, total inclusion, and the collective progress of the constituency at all times.
The Qua Consultative Forum, in a separate letter dated May 11, 2026, also congratulated Governor Bassey Otu on the successful purchase of the nomination form and screening to contest for a second tenure in office.
