2027: I'll be on the Ballot, no room for Bullying
As activities leading to the 2027 presidential election gathers momentum, Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party has rejected insinuations that he has accepted to be the running mate to one of the contenders.
Obi, the Labour Party's candidate in the 2023 Presidential election, spoke during an interactive X Space with a cross-section of Nigerians on Monday.
While answering questions from a participant, Obi said he can't join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to become a running mate to a fellow contender, who may not be better than him, experience-wise.
He emphasized the need for participatory democracy, adding that there will be no room for bullying ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
While dismissing such claims, Obi stated that "I will be on the ballot in 2027. None of us can predict tomorrow.
"Let us enter the coalition with an open mind. We can’t solve the problems of Nigeria by bullying. We can solve it with putting the right people to manage our affairs.
“Tomorrow is dynamic; we are going to work with other people in the coalition."
The Beagle News reports that lately there were media speculations suggesting Mr. Obi's possible defection to the ADC with a view to secure a joint presidential ticket with Atiku Abubakar, where the ex governor is expected to be the ex VP's running mate.
