Yuletide: US-Based Afikpo Born Philanthropist, Onwa, Fetes Over 500 Elderly, Widows, Widowers in Ukpa Community

It was a day to remember as over 500 persons including ohe elderly men, women, widows, widowers and the less privileged from Ukpa community Afikpo, Afikpo local government area of Ebonyi state were treated to mini Christmas feast by Rev. Chief Lawrence Onwa.
Rev. Onwa, is a United States-based philanthropist and hails from Ukpa community. Afikpo, Afikpo local government area of Ebonyi state.
In the spirit of Yuletide, Onwa treated over 500 persons including some senior citizens, widowers and widows to a mini-Christmas feast at Ukpa-Amachara Community Primary School n December 24,, 2025
The empowerment which cuts across every village in Ukpa targeted the elderly men, women, widows, widowers and the less privileged from every community.
Some of the items distributed to the beneficiaries include over 1000 bags of rice, each containing a full bushel, six yards of expensive wrappers to every beneficiary, numbering more than 500 and many other gifts.
Speaking, Rev Onwa said he did it in the true spirit of service, compassion and community upliftment, adding that it was in appreciation to God for His faithfulness in his life.
Emphasizing the importance of the outreach , he said the event was a movement of kindness and a gesture of shared humanity, noting that the social outreach was to tell those who feel that they have been forgotten and marginalized that they are still remembered, loved and appreciated.
One of the beneficiaries, Onikara, Ferdinand Otu Ekuma, a retired Navy Officer, who spoke on behalf of others, said the event was the first of its kind in his generation. He said that they were happy and appreciative of the empowerment and prayed for God to give the benefactor long life, good health and more wealth.
Recall that every year Rev Onwa also organises free medical outreach where people with different kinds of ailments are treated free at his expense.
