Vena Ikem's Resignation Marks End Of Wike's Ploy In C'River, Says PDP Guber Candidate

The Taminu Turaki led PDP Faction says the resignation of the Cross River State factional party chairman Venatius Ikem means the total collapse of the Wike led distraction and his concorted rainbow coalition.

Briefing the press on Saturday, the factional Cross River PDP governorship candidate, Julius Udayi, said Ikem's resignation marks the total collapse of the Rainbow Coalition backed by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

Udayi, who's faction is loyal to the Senator Tanimu Turaki led National Caretaker Committee claimed Ikem was imposed by the Wike faction to project and deliver certain candidates in line with Wike's political interests in the state.

According to Udayi, Ikem's resignation is not unconnected with an expected judgment from the Court of Appeal which will determine the authentic leadership of the PDP in the state.

He reiterated that all candidates nominated by the Turaki-led caretaker committee remain the authentic flag bearers of the PDP in Cross River State.

Udayi described Ikem's decision to quit as an indication of the end of Wike's political ploy and distraction in Cross River State, commending him for what he called repentance and hunger for righteousness

"Just recently you all heard that Mr. Venatius Ikem Esq. who was imposed by the Wike's faction as a factional Chairman of the PDP in Cross River State, who previously had an assignment to project and deliver certain candidates of the Rainbow Coalition, has resigned his membership of the party".

"We of the Turaki-led executive are not surprised at this positive development because we saw it coming. We are gladdened because the chaff will soon be separated from the weeds," Udayi stated..

"Vena himself as an experienced lawyer throwing in the towel at this time is itself an indication of the end of Wike's political ploy in Cross River State. We must salute and commend him for the spirit of sportsmanship in him," he added.

He urged faithful members of the PDP in the state to remain calm, steadfast and united while expressing confidence that the party will come out stronger ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Feelers from various political circles has it that the former factional party chairman Venatius Ikem will be joining the ruling All Progressive Congress in the coming days.
