UNICAL Cooperative Society Inaugurates New EXCO Leadership
The University of Calabar Staff Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society (UCSMPCS) has sworn in its new executive members at the Cooperative Event Hall.
The swearing-in ceremony was administered by the head of the institution's legal unit, Bar. Jonas Abuo, in the presence of the Cross River State Commissioner for Social Welfare and Community Development, Prof. Margaret Ene-Ita, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Cooperative Affairs, Dr. Edem Ebong.
Bar. Abuo charged the newly elected Exco members to be of good conduct, transparent, and prudent with the resources of the society, and to strive to be purpose-driven to take the society to its peak of glory.
Prof. Ene-Ita, the CRS Commissioner for Social Welfare and Community Development, also charged the new Exco members to be responsive to the needs of the society, warning that there will be no room for excuses.
She emphasized that the ministry will not hesitate to bring to book any unethical practice by Exco members, and called on them to apply professionalism and dexterity in discharging their duties.
Dr. Edem Ebong, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Cooperative Affairs, stated that the days of embezzlement are over, and every bit of cooperative funds will be accounted for.
He advised the new Exco to be effective and efficient in service delivery, as the government has zero tolerance for embezzlement.
The newly elected President, Mrs. Ekei Eyo Itam, thanked the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Offiong E. Offiong, for his pragmatic approach and presence, which ensured a smooth election.
She promised that the Exco will deliver on their mandate and appealed to members to work together for the growth of the society.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates of return to the newly elected members.
