President Bola Tinubu has named Professor Segun Aina as the incoming Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), replacing Professor Ishaq Oloyede whose tenure ends on July 31, 2026.

‎The appointment was disclosed in a statement released on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

‎According to the Presidency, Aina is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University with vast experience in digital systems, examination administration and institutional reforms.

‎The statement described him as a seasoned academic and technology expert who has spent over 15 years working with federal and state governments on digital transformation projects, system development and public-sector reforms.

‎It added that the professor earned a degree in Computer Systems Engineering from University of Kent, before obtaining both a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University. He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.

‎The Presidency further noted that Aina had served as a consultant to examination agencies such as the National Examinations Council and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, particularly in the areas of ICT systems and examination security.

‎Aina is also affiliated with several professional bodies, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

‎The statement noted that the 39-year-old scholar, who turns 40 in July, is among Nigeria’s youngest professors in Computer Engineering and is set to become the youngest registrar in JAMB’s history.

‎President Tinubu expressed confidence in Aina’s capacity to sustain and improve on the reforms introduced under Oloyede’s leadership, saying he is expected to bring his experience and expertise to further strengthen the examination body.
