Time To Focus on Elections Now Primaries Are Over, Says Gov Otu's aide

By Bassey BASSEY

Special Adviser on Political Matters to Governor Bassey Otu, Cross River State Central Senatorial District, Obol Nnanna Arikpo, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to close ranks, and work for the party's victory in the 2027 general elections.

Arikpo, who spoke with newsmen in Calabar on Tuesday while reacting to the conclusion of the party's primaries, stated that there was no winner and loser in the just APC primaries in Cross River.

While commending the members for exhibiting good conduct before, during, and after the primaries, Arikpo noted that in every democratic process involving diverse interests and aspirations, differences of opinion are inevitable.

He particularly appealed to the aspirants who lost out in the primary from the central senatorial district to embrace the reconciliation efforts of the governor.

"However, I commend the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party for the wisdom, commitment, and political dexterity demonstrated in addressing and reconciling many of the contentious issues that arose during the exercise.

"As we now shift our focus to the campaign season, I wish to passionately appeal to all party faithful, particularly those in the central senatorial district, to embrace unity, genuine reconciliation, and unwavering commitment to the ideals and vision of our great party.

"We must remember that the APC remains one united family, bound by a common purpose and a shared destiny.

"I, therefore, call on all aggrieved members, respected leaders, supporters, media aides, and other stakeholders to sheath their swords, refrain from inflammatory rhetoric, and work together in the spirit of peace, mutual respect, and cooperation.

"Our collective strength lies in our unity, and only through unity can we secure overwhelming electoral victories for all our candidates,

"For us, there is neither victor nor vanquished. The success of every APC candidate is a victory for the entire party and for the people of Cross River State," he stated.

He concluded that the APC remains

the strongest vehicle through which Gov. Otu can continue to advance his People First Agenda and deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to the people of Cross River.
