Team Nigeria Records 24 Medals, Emerges Best African Country at Commonwealth Games
Team Nigeria has delivered 10 gold medals, 7 Silver and 7 bronze medals finishing 7th on the overall medal table and emerging as the best African country at the 2026 commonwealth games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The contingent made up of 72 athletes won 10 of it's 24 medals from weightlifting whit 6 gold and 4 silver from the sport. Chukwuebuka Enekwechi also won a gold medal in short put becoming the first ever Nigerian to win a gold medal in short put.
Australia finished 1st on the log with 171 medals, England 2nd with 110 medals, Canada 3rd on 62 medals, while India and Scotland both finish with 39 medals occupying 4th and 5th positions and New Zealand 6th with 36 medals
Nigeria finishing 7th overall and topping Africa is a huge statement which continues to prove the countries status as all time best in the commonwealth games ahead of sports rivals like South Africa, Kenya and Uganda.
